Lake District ~ Holme Fell & Yew Tree Tarn ~ Fine Art Photography
If you’ve watched the video you will already know the magic conditions I faced. Bad weather is great for photography…
I don’t get chance to explain in the videos all the details, this is why I love to blog and get some extra details down in writing. The problems is, I’m a terrible writer but I try my best… So please stick with me and follow my stories on the website.
When I set off, I had a plan to photograph Yew Tree Tarn, Tarn Hows, and Kelly Hall Tarn in a day. Three Tarns in a day… Yea! Optimistic to say the least…
I could see the tops of Arnside and Holme fell from parking the car. So I made a decision straight away, today I will go up Holme Fell. I had no idea of what I was about to face, you are very sheltered at Yew Tree Tarn. I have to admit I wasn’t struck by Yew Tree Tarn and I knew straight away this tarn would need time and attention. Time was getting on and I had arrived late due to my little girl being poorly in the night, I’d only had about 3 hours sleep. So quickly I decided I would go up Holme Fell and drop down for some sunset light later, optimistic I know.
Now I won’t go on much more, because I’d prefer you to watch the video. Believe me it shows just what I had to face unexpectedly up at the top! I was so excited heading up Holme Fell. I had wanted to go to this location for so long, I love trees and especially Silver Birch and Larch! I was nervous because I knew this location was sacred to lots of photographers and I was worried on how I would be judged, but then I thought (Mali Style) Balls to that! Lets do it my way and don’t worry, lets have a go, lets create!
So please take the time to watch the video below and make you own decisions, It was one of my favourite adventures and I cant wait to return time and time again to study the area more…
Here is why I do it all, not for the video, not for the subs, not for the experience sometimes but to grab photography at every opportunity. The walk round and get your mind in the zone and looking in a different way to the everyday! I love to see, sure we can see but this is different, its looking at all the details, not with your phone in hand or distractions but 100% looking at the environment your in. On this occasion I was surrounded by stunning fells draped with glorious light and texture. As if that wasn’t enough! A snow storm and 5omph winds smashed me in the face and gave me some shots and moment I will never forget. Below are the best of a bunch of photography I adore. I hope you like…
