I have always loved trees, but now I see them with a camera…
Me, myself and this woodland episode should be something else… I always feel if you go out to make a vlog or to create some images make the most of what you get. So before the farmers gun went bang bang bang, I was setting out to create a video about long exposures and Billinge hill… That’s the inside scoop, but instead this turned into a finding of stunning woodland that I really couldn’t refuse to devote myself too. The idea of long exposures soon dissipated to the enthusiasm and excitement of the first woodland I visited! My time in this place is not over, I shall be returning soon, hopefully in the conditions I could only dream of at this time.
The rest of the video was to fall into place. I visited a woodland that I knew very well, a place from my youth and learning about nature from my grandad. What the type of trees are, the names of the wild flowers and what the land once was. Johnies woods is steeped with history.
So to get back to the woodland the the light, in the first part I was just in excitement mode and flashes of low light touching distant trees to give me a composition. Not perfected but this was an impromptu visit and gave me alot of ideas for the future. This is the case with everywhere you visit. Note book out and make some sketches and notes for idea when you next return. Although I may appear to be at the speed of light and very excited, I have a calmness when I’m vlogging or out taking photographs. Between waxing lyrical, I spend a few moments taking in my surroundings and preparing my next ramble, but yes mostly I like to run and gun and express myself on the fly.
The trees! From Oak beach and the odd few birch, there is a patch of giants in the first woodland, thats I refer to as the dance of the tuning forks! This shot didn’t work out, why? I need more time and better conditions, better light and some fog would be amazing. The heights of these trees are proud and foreboding, giving way to a dance in the composition. Each with their own space and each with there own personalities. Can you tell I love trees? almost as much as I love clouds…
So my ramble and ramble must end, please take the time to watch and comment like and all that business on my video and don’t forget to take a look at the images below and leave a comment if you like.
