Wide to Telephoto Landscape Photography
A series of images that came from a day of change, a day that was set to be all about woodland and it became all about being out and enjoying light, and changes within the landscape. This blog post is a look back, I find it interesting and very enjoyable to have a backlog of blogs to write and re-visit the day when I filmed and took the images below.
To start it was very harsh light, no clouds and the sun was blazing down, the trees high in contrast and the walk tough on the brow. We heading up through a woodland called Johnny’s Wood with the full intentions to photograph the many Oak trees and character that live gnarly on the slopes. For once I pushed on and we climbed up to the top of the woodland to where the open fells at the foot of Dale head with Castle Crag and Kings How behind us as we looked down the valley to the mighty Great End and friends, Glaramara, Great Gable, a spectacular view and very easy to get to. This was the moment I realised I no longer needed to battle my mental fears of going up high to get great views and quintessential Lakeland awe and wonder. This was the beginning of knowing my own path in my Lake District exploits. The Outstanding Beauty of Borrowdale and changing lenses from wide to telephoto is a great challenge to have in one of the most beautiful places in the Lake District.
As you will see by the shots below and video, I filled my boots with big fells and passing light high enough to get that look and feel of being up on a big mountain. As I write this I will be returning soon, perhaps in a couple of weeks to catch the Autumn colours changing around Kings How and Castle Crag. Well that’s if we get an Autumn this year. Lots of green still around and it could all go at once with leaves falling very quickly. Please click through my image galley below and also support me by giving my video a watch, like and subscribe.
Don’t forget all my images are available in print form in a huge variety of styles and formats, drop me a message and we can talk over any options you would like. Also if you would like to experience a day like this with me, workshops are available now for November and early December click here and contact me today to arrange your experience day with me.
Thank you, and theres only one more thing to say… and that’s SITHEE!
