Kentmere, the Lake District.
Not exactly a lost valley, but bear with me. It’s my story on a valley that holds so many memories. 19 to 20 years ago, I would visit Kentmere valley and wild camp with friends and my now wife. It’s a great place to go off grid, disappear and have no distractions. This was back when my Motorola phone was the size of a landline phone and a green screen. You couldn’t even take pictures with it. I did however have a camera. A PENTAX 100 1.3MP, yip 1.3 mega pixels – my first digital camera! I will have to go back in my old hard drives and find some images. This is for another day, also showing you some of my Kodak images from 1982.
Anyways, I digress. This valley had been lost to me for many years, I always loved the landscape but never got in-depth into landscape photography until many years later. So a revisit to this valley was a an absolute pleasure. Especially with a giant of a friend. The knowledgeable Chris Sale and myself set off into the valley on a day of changeable weather, not that it mattered, any weather is always good for photography.
Onwards down the road, yea, I took the easy route but this was the original route I took 19 years prior. Memories flooding back and the astonishment of how the whole valley hadn’t changed a jot! I say hadn’t changed, nature had had its affect on the area we used to camp at. Most of the pine trees had fallen and the area was filled with filled rocks and dead wood. That area was wonderful back then, set back from the pathway and you could shelter amongst the pines. Still, the valley did not disappoint, STUNNING!
I will round up here and let you give the video a watch and below have a look at the photography I got on the day…
Reet, lets get down to the reason I do all this and waffle on like a gudun! Have a look at the photography, I hope you like. I’m quite pleased with most of them. Some lack balance some have their faults but its all part of the process of my photography. Enjoy…
